On this, 29th September 2025: The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) has announced key amendments and additions to the UAE’s entry visa framework, signaling another major step in strengthening the country’s appeal to professionals, entrepreneurs, and global travelers.

These changes are designed to attract highly skilled professionals, boost tourism, and enhance opportunities across arts, culture, events, and maritime sectors. The new visa categories open exciting pathways for professionals and investors—particularly those in early or growth stages—looking to expand their presence in the UAE, a global hub for business, innovation, and success.

Among all destinations, Dubai remains the most sought-after business and lifestyle hub in the region.

Let’s understand these news amendments in detail:

What’s New: Four Specialized Visit Visa Categories

The UAE has introduced four new visit visa types, each tailored to a specific professional segment, eligibility criteria, and sponsorship requirements.

  • Multiple Entry: Allows multiple entries and exits during the visa’s validity period.
  • Temporary/Event-Based Entry: Designed for individuals visiting the UAE for a specific event or project; the visa expires once the event concludes.

Stay duration, renewals, and extensions may vary by visa type, sponsor, and event specifics.

Other Key Amendments

In addition to these new visa types, the UAE government has updated several residency and sponsorship rules to streamline further and humanize the system:

Humanitarian Residence Permits:

  • Valid for one year and renewable.
  • Designed for individuals from countries affected by war, natural disasters, or unrest.
  • No sponsor required; automatically canceled if the holder leaves the UAE.
  • Residency for Widows and Divorcees:
  • Foreign widows or divorcees of UAE nationals can apply for residency within six months of the spouse’s death or divorce.
  • Applicants must be present in the UAE at the time of application.

  • Supporting documents include a valid residency visa, proof of kinship, a return ticket, and accommodation details.
